Love this cover. LOVE. IT.

At this point, most of you know that I'm constantly on the look-out for new books to read and (possibly) obsess over. Sure, I get excited for a lot of upcoming releases but there are some books that strike me the right way. Strike me as OMG-I-HAVE-to-read-this-book-as-soon-as-possible-because-I-have-this-feeling-that-it'll-be-ahmaaaayzing.

For me, Stacey Kade's debut The Ghost and The Goth is one of those books.
I was on twitter last night* and when Stacey tweeted that she had a cover for her book, I got excited. Like, REALLY excited.**  :D

For those that have no idea what this is about:
After a close encounter with the front end of a school bus, Alona Dare goes from Homecoming Queen to Queen of the Dead. Now she’s stuck here in spirit form with no sign of the big, bright light coming to take her away. To make matters worse, the only person who might be able to help her is Will Killian, a total loser/outcast type who hates the social elite. He alone can see and hear her, but he wants nothing to do with the former mean girl of Groundsboro High.

Can they get over their mutual distrust—and this weird attraction between them—to work together before Alona vanishes for good and Will is locked up for seeing things that don’t exist?

This kind of reminds me of Amanda Ashby's You Had Me At Halo. (which I recommend, FYI) But whatever, I have this gut feeling that it'll be good. I truly do love this cover. I like how the guy's expression is like, "Ugh, holy crap, why must this gorgeously translucent girl annoy me to do her bidding and even though I hate her, I'll still end up doing it anyway....?"

*I find out EVERYTHING on twitter now. I don't even have to pick up a newspaper anymore, hah!
** The type of excited where I have to get up from my computer, move into the next room and TELL my mother that this book that I'm waiting for finally has a cover. I danced along the way, just to make me seem more like a freak. :)

  7. Sandy, thank you so much! I'm thrilled to hear that you love the cover. They did an amazing job depicting Alona and Will as I'd imagined. And you're spot on with your description of his expression! I love her little smirk, too. :)

  10. It's an awesomely fun book. ;-) I had the pleasure of reading it "in production" as well as the finished manuscript, as I'm Stacey's critique partner (and an author too but not in YA). I loved Will and Alona! And the cover is perfect.

  14. I agree, love the cover!! I'm a bit iffy about the premise though, because those girls tend to be annooooying, with the exception of possibly Tess from The Naughty List. ;)
Anyways, I'll have to keep my eye on this one though, thanks!

  16. That is a stunning cover ... and the Goth guy is pretty hawt, although not-particularly-impressed with Ghost Girl.
