Waiting On Wednesday

I had mentioned Erin Bow's Plain Kate in a prior WoW post  but I found out a few days ago through Twitter that the book had an official cover; initially I was baffled since I found the cover of the book from my last WoW post on goodreads--but then I looked at the latest cover and ZOMG! did I love it. Look at that scarf. It's just a touch of blue surrounded by a more somber background but I. LOVE. IT. If you want to see it better, check out the author's web page. There you'll glimpse the cover in its big, gorgeously detailed grandeur. :)

Now onto the NEW books....

Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when Varen Nethers is assigned as her partner for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. But when he makes it clear that he’d rather not have anything to do with her either, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the perfect handwriting and cold, piercing eyes another look. Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her football-playing boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined. And the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares. His life depends on it. (synopsis taken from the author's bio on the tenners site)

I'm not sure how I feel about the cover but the summary sure has my attention! The guy on the cover reminds me of Edward Scissorhands...

Also, I can't forget this one.

I haven't read Catching Fire yet but I plan to. I actually want to reread The Hunger Games first so I can reacquaint myself with the story. I could never forget about Kat or Peeta (sweet, wonderful Peeta!) or Gale but I can't recall the small details.... like that girl that Kat was competing against in THG. Was her name Prue? See, I can't remember! Correct me if I'm wrong.

  2. Awesome picks! Ah, Mockingjay...I still need to read CF because of the same reason. Hopefully CF's as good as everyone says, :D

  3. I just added Plain Kate to my wishlist today :) Nevermore seems great so I had to add that one as well.

My choice for todays WoW post is a book called The Thief Taker's Apprentice.

  4. Plain Kate sounds wonderful, and the cover is so pretty.

Nevermore has a cool premise but I don't really like the cover, haha.

    AND OMG MOCKINGJAY! *fangirls*

Also, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN'T READ CATCHING FIRE?!

But yay to a THG reread and to remedying this very sad situation. :p

  5. Ok lets try this again, LOL. I got to the end of the comment and I accidentally hit close and closed the page. Urgh.

The Plain Kate cover does look nice, I'll have to do a bit of digging on that book and check it out.

The second book, Nevermore, I'm kinda on the fence for that one. It sounds interesting, but also like a mishmash of other YA novels like Twilight, Hush, Hush and Wake. That lip ring makes it look a bit vampirish also. I had to get the big version to see if it was a tooth. LOL.

Ok last, you MUST MUST MUST MUST read Catching Fire. What?!!! Phew got that out of my system. Nice choices!

Sorry, but I have to correct you- Prue is Kat's sister. You have to re-read- I loved THG and CF.
