Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
Lucy Sexton is stunned when a disheveled woman appears at the door one day…a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to Lucy's own beautiful mother. It turns out the two women are identical twins, separated at birth, and raised in dramatically different circumstances. Lucy's mother quickly resolves to give her less fortunate sister the kind of life she has never known. And the transformation in Aunt Helen is indeed remarkable. But when Helen begins to imitate her sister in every way, even Lucy isn't sure at times which twin is which. Can Helen really be trusted, or does her sweet face mask a chilling agenda? Release Date: August 31st, 2010
I was going to mention this for next week's WoW but I couldn't resist-I wanted to talk about it now. :) When I was at BEA, (I also owe you guys a post about BEA....which will come soon enough.) the cover really caught my attention because I thought it seemed rather Jane Austen-ish. (or something similiar to that time period.) I chatted with a lady at the publisher's booth who showed me a display copy (there were no arcs for me to grab... I was a sad panda.) and it was really pretty to look at. I didn't even notice that the space between the two shadows formed a dagger until the lady mentioned it! I totally dig this cover-and it sounds like a good story.
Oooh, this one looks awesome! The cover is truly gorgeous! I'm looking forward to your BEA post :D
ReplyDeleteOooo cool. I totally didn't see the dagger until you pointed it out :)

ReplyDeleteAnd w00t w00t for doppelgangers! Gotta love them XD
Thanks for sharing, this is going directly on my wishlist. Oh, if you had not mentioned it I wouldn't have seen the dagger resemblance, cool :D
ReplyDeleteThat cover rocks (I totally didn't notice the dagger til you pointed it out!), and the synopsis sounds eerie.
ReplyDeleteNice pick :)
Yep, I'm changing my layout. Hehe, I said I might a couple months ago and I got "nooooo"'s so I didn't change. B-b-but... I hope you won't be too disappointed with the new one? :'(
ReplyDeleteIf most people say they like the old one over the new one, I'll switch back, haha. I'm so unsure. I WOULD BE DEVASTATED IF YOU CHANGED YOU LAYOUT THOUGH!
I can't get enough of that cover. I didn't notice the knife at first, too! And I'm totally getting Jane Austen vibes from its appearance, but that synopsis is interesting as well.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds crazy intense. Whoa. I love the concept. It's freaky but in a new way. Love, love, love it. And the cover. That's an eye grabber. I'll definitely be looking into this when it comes out.
ReplyDeleteI never noticed the dagger, either. I love the cover and the concept.
