Not much to report for my first report, sadly. But I'm allowing myself to just take it slow and ease my way back into blogging since I had such a bad bout of blogger burn out (suddenly I'm quite good at alliteration).
So for June, I have only read 2 books and one of them was a graphic novel! :D
June Reads
Saga volume 1: pretty much the coolest graphic novel I've read so far (review). If I did star ratings, this would definitely get 5 stars and a BIG A+
Bloodsong by Rhiannon Hart: a nice read although it could have been better. (review) Still, I'm curious to read more of Zeraphina's journey. I liked this book enough that it's definitely staying on my shelves.

Snapshot of June:
I went to BookCon which sadly was a hot, misleading mess of an event. It had its good moments and my experience was salvaged by my fellow YAcker Janice but otherwise....meh. I heard it will be a two-day event that will be separate from BEA.
I also did a discussion post about how your reading taste changes over time. A lot of you had really great things to say in the comments!

Next Month's Reads:
- Graceling by Kristin Cashore
- Fire by Kristin Cashore
- Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson (reader's choice--thank you to everyone that voted!)
What's going on with me:
- I went to the beach on Saturday with friends. It was so great to just dig my toes into the sand and hang out with my friends who I haven't seen in ages. We reminisced, ate junk food and played games. It made me realize that I was grateful for the little things, and so I decided to write down the things that made me grateful every day for a year. Since I started late in 2014, it'll have to extend to 2015 but I'm going to challenge myself to do this because I want to find the things that make me smile in my life. Even on the days where I just want to fall into bed and wait for it to be another day.
- I'm also debating whether to wait until next year to apply to grad school or apply now and be admitted (hopefully) in early 2015. It's a big leap and I finished my bachelors a month ago (HOW did that happen already?!) but I find myself missing being a student. Isn't it funny that when you're in school, you complain and stress about deadlines but after a while when you're out, you begin to miss it? Crazy stuff.
Ok, so that was my first wrap up post! I thought that there wasn't going to be much to mention but there was more than enough apparently o.o
Bad bout of blogger burn out, haha!! Love it. But anyways, it's nice that you're getting back into blogging again and hopefully you aren't feeling any pressure about it because blogging should never be a chore. Here's to a relaxing July! I also hope to dig into Graceling sometime soon because I'm tired of being left out of the loop on that one!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Aylee! Yup, I'm just going to take it slow and let myself enjoy reading again. Blogging should never be a chore.
DeleteCool, we will both read GRACELING around the same time ;)
I've been thinking of reading Graceling too since I got it for Christmas. We should do a read-along.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on missing being a student, and I've been considering a masters too, but with my job and all, I haven't been able to really look into it, and I know it'll be time consuming if I do it and I don't wanna stop working.
I love your project of writing down the things that make you happy :D It's a lovely thought.
I'm supposed to be reading along with the YAckers (it was decided that we'd read all 3 books) but I'm painfully behind, lol.
DeleteThat's what's stopping me too. I want to get a job first and just BE for a while. I've always been a student so having all this freedom so suddenly is...incredibly much. o_O;
I've been meaning to do it for ages now! I even wanted to have a jar and maybe once I finish, I could pull out some slips of papers with my thoughts. that could be a nice vlog :)
