Shadow Scale has a cover!

Rachel Hartman, author of Seraphina (which I LOVED), posted the cover for Shadow Scale on her blog today. I really like the style of this cover and Seraphina's. Hartman also mentioned in her post that SC will be the second and final book. I had it in my mind that this would be a trilogy but I was mistaken. Oh well. Sometimes two well-written books are better than a trilogy with a middle book that suffers "second book syndrome." I have no doubt SC will be amazing and I can't wait for it to be released!

  1. Oh this is fantastic!! I do so love the woodcut style of these covers. Now I will admit that I haven't actually read Seraphina yet. I know I KNOW, I need to. I recall most of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and your own review just further convinces me that it's a MUST read.

And as for no third book planned - I really do agree that sometimes duologies are a better option anyways! A lot of trilogies fall into the same trap and tropes that we see again and again, so duologies are nice because they tend to change up that same old rhythm. Anyways, I hope this one is just as well received as the first because I am SO keen on this series already!

    1. The woodcut style IS lovely :)

AYLEE WHAT?! I can't even. I just. WHAT?! If there is any amazing fantasy YA that needs to be read, IT IS THIS BOOK. OMG.

Yes, that's exactly what I think when it comes to duologies vs trilogies. I know that book deals that dictate the number of books in a series affect how authors write their stories but sometimes 2 books really are better than 3 or 4!
